The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.” – Saint Augustine
An educational trip to Leh and Kargil was organized by the Salwan Education Trust from September 6 to 10, 2024 . Three students from Salwan Boys Sr. Sec. School – Shubham
Bhagat, Mohit Nailwal, and Sunny Yadav – joined the excursion to Leh and Kargil. They travelled with 32 students from other Salwan schools and three staff members, beginning their journey with a flight to Leh.
The group visited several significant sites, including the Hall of Fame Museum, where they learned about the heroic acts of Indian soldiers. They also explored the peaceful Spituk Monastery and witnessed Ladakh’s rich cultural heritage at Leh Palace. At the Mulbekh Monastery, the students were captivated by the towering statue of Maitreya Buddha, symbolizing peace.
The highlight of the trip was visiting the Dras/Kargil War Memorial near Tiger Hill, honoring the soldiers of the 1999 Kargil War. The students left with a deep sense of respect for India’s bravery and history.
The trip was a perfect blend of education, adventure, and tribute.
